| 59. Group of Soil Series No.59 |
This group is alluvial-complex soils occupies alluvial plain and valley. The soil qualities vary as source of alluvium itself. They are poorly drained with sandy, silty and gravelly layer. Soils in this group is AC-pd or Alluvial Complex, poorly drained.
Majority of the land use are paddy rice in rainy season and irrigated annual crops or vegetables in dry season. |
| Problems : Low fertility sandy texture, lack of water in dry season but flooding occasionally. |
| Management for rice : Mix crop residues with soil and leave for 3-4 week or mix 4-6 kg/rai of 50-70 days Sesbinia rostrata or S. speciosa with soils and leave for 1-2 weeks. Top dressing of 16-16-8 chemical fertilizer, 35-45 days after rice transplanting. Farm ponds are recommended to preserve water to be used with second rice in dry season. Upland crops, vegetables and lugums can be grown after first rice on the low bunded land with the application of 2-3 ton/rai compose fertilizer or animal manure plus chemical or LDD organic fertilizer. |
| Management for upland, vegetable crops and orchard : Raised bed to 6-8 meters wide with 1.0-1.5 meters width and 0.5-0.75 meters depth drainage canal with dike to avoid flooding. Application of 2-3 ton/rai compose fertilizer or animal manure with chemical or LDD liquid fertilizer . For fruit trees, soil preparation in 50*50*50 pit is to mix 20-35 kg compose fertilizer or animal manure. Application of compose fertilizer or animal manure with chemical or liquid LDD fertilizer at vegetative growth, before and after harvesting. Farm ponds are recommended to preserve water to be used in dry season |
